How do you incorporate novels into the Daily 5 structure?
Heike
If it is a novel you are reading aloud to your class, you can model strategies you have shared in focus lessons while reading, or use a piece of the text during a mini-lesson to stress a specific strategy. If you have a group reading a novel, you can do similar activities in their small group work (different novels for different groups).
Keep in mind that the whole class reading the same novel, is probably not a good fit for everyone.
