Hello!
We are trying to implement the system and we would like to clear a doubt. What do you teach in the mini lessons that are inside the daily 5 routine? The CAFE strategies or specific contents of the curriculum, like the alphabet?
Thank you so much for any help we can get!
One thing to keep in mind–there is an “Emergent Menu” for kinders or those who are still working on pre-reading skills. Under Fluency in that menu, the strategies listed are Recognize upper case letters, Recognize lower case letters and Recognize sight words. These strategies might be something you work on for a long time, and could be added to your CAFE menu.
So, you could work on letter recognition and sounds (under the Accuracy column) for some of your mini-lessons, maybe one round a day. I think you would also want to add other content to your mini-lessons on a daily basis. I also think as you dig deeper into the CAFE strategies, you’ll see the connections with your curriculum.
