As an alternate to reading their books to each other, it’s fun to read poems or plays with a partner. I just heard about a great resource from a colleague. It’s called “Partner Plays” from Teachers pay Teachers. The author of these plays is Deb Hanson, so if you search for her name or partner plays, you can find them easily. My friend teaches 4th, and got the 3rd and 4th grade bundle. I work with struggling readers grades 1-4, and I purchased the 2nd and 3rd grade bundle.
The plays are short–two pages (which I ran back to back), a nice size font for the kids, and FUN! She gave good suggestions on how she organized the plays to make it easy for the kids to get them themselves.
A nice Sunday afternoon find!!
