I’m concerned about my fourth graders showing accountability when they are reading to self. Should I be using a reader’s response notebook or some other form for them to make sure they are comprehending what they read and aren’t just skimming through their books?

I am working to promote a love of literacy and we are building our stamina but there are a couple students I am wary of–I’d like to show accountability during Read to Self somehow but I’d like to see what the “Sisters” have to say about that.

This link to an article on the website is not exactly what you’re talking about, but it sure is a great idea sent in from another teacher :). https://www.thedailycafe.com/articles/daily-5-and-accountability
I went to “Search” on the main page and found a lot of articles about accountability. It would probably be easier for you to find what you needed. here’s the link to get there. https://www.thedailycafe.com/search/results?tab=0&keywords=accountability+for+read+to+self&author=0&data[articletypes]=0&article_search_button=Search
