Although this takes place in a kindergarten classroom, the value and importance of sharing applies to every grade. No matter what age we teach, we make time to celebrate what writers are attempting to do, as well as what they are doing well. In this video, you will see a variety of skill levels, each with something to celebrate.

Watch and Listen

  • Watch how Trish finds something to celebrate in each piece.
  • What does Trish notice, reinforce, and teach during each share?
  • The first student refers to using the word collector. How might you encourage this in your classroom?

Reflect

Trish has students share between Daily 5 rotations. When do you have students share their reading and writing?
