Open communication between school and home can help improve a child's success in the classroom. We start this communication early in the year with a letter introducing the Daily 5 literacy structure.

We know Daily 5 is successful because we have witnessed the amazing results firsthand. It is supported by current research in literacy and provides our students with an outstanding opportunity to become independent readers and writers. When we send an introductory letter home, we share our enthusiasm, communicate our daily routine, and engage parents in what takes place in the classroom.

Below you will find a few sample letters you can use either as is or as a starting point for creating your own. Either way, be sure to keep your parents aware of the exciting happenings in your classroom as your students work to build their stamina and become better readers.
