The reviews on Pssst! by Adam Rex are all over the board, but we really enjoyed the quirky and strange zoo visit where animals ask a nonplused zoo-going girl for unusual objects. Students will enjoy predicting what they will do with them, but will undoubtedly be wrong.

Possible Strategy Instruction:

  • C: Predict what will happen, use text to confirm
  • C: Infer and support with evidence
  • A: Use meaning and context to confirm
  • F: Use punctuation to enhance phrasing and prosody
