Can anyone recommend an app to inventory the books in your classroom library?

Yes! Try Scholastic Book Wizard. It’s free! I was using it just today. The only downside is that your books must have a bar code on them. The app will scan the bar code, then give you a brief synopsis of the book as well as a reading level. The reading level might be DRA, Lexile, grade level, or all three (depending on the book). It also lets you create book lists for keeping track of the titles you have once you’ve scanned the book. Many of my older books don’t have a bar code, so I can’t scan those, although there is an option to type in the title of the book if you can’t scan it. Good luck!

booksource.com also has a classroom library app. My son started scanning my books in for me today. He was able to scan some and enter the ISBN on others. I haven’t checked to see if a title could be entered if a book doesn’t have an ISBN on it.

I just started using Libib a few weeks ago. There is a website with more functionality and an app. You can add tags and notes to books and create different libraries. I created a separate library for my read aloud books and am tagging them with strategies. So far I like it.

Do you have to type all the data in? In the past I would scan a book and it would have the title, author, text level, and ashort description, all from scanning the bar code. I could add in additional information, if I wanted to. I have so many books, I need a scanning app!
