In this three-part series, Gail and Rachel begin with a conversation about Trey, a fifth grader in Rachel's class. This is the second year Rachel has had this class since she looped up with them from fourth grade. Because of this, Rachel already had a great deal of information about Trey's goals and strategies. She reminds Gail that they worked on expanding Trey's vocabulary last year. Since he is reading on a ninth-grade level, it is natural for them to continue with his vocabulary goal.

In this first video, Gail and Rachel discuss Trey's strengths and areas of growth and make a plan for their conferring session with him.

Rachel and Gail meet with Trey and set a goal and strategy with him. They will have him expand his vocabulary by keeping track of words he can use later in his own writing. Trey is an active participant in this conference and is very honest.

In this final video, Gail and Rachel discuss what they learned about Trey and what they will keep in mind about his next steps.
