Monitor and fix up is a vital comprehension strategy used by all proficient readers and is a Common Core expectation for all grades. Readers must stop and determine if what they are reading makes sense, and if they understand what is happening in the story or what the selection is about. If meaning breaks down, the reader applies strategies to go back and fix it.

This assessment will help teachers of all grade levels assess this vital strategy.
