In Fish is Fish, two young "fish" friends are living in a pond together when one of them becomes a frog. After exploring the world beyond the pond, the frog tells his fish friend about all he has seen.  What will happen when the fish wants to see that world for himself?  

Possible strategy instruction:

  • C: Make a mental picture or image.
  • C: Recognize and explain cause-and-effect relationships.
  • C: Summarize text; include sequence of main events.
  • A: Flip the sound.
  • F: Read the text as the author would say it, conveying the meaning or feeling.
  • E: Use word parts to determine the meaning of words.
  • E: Use prior knowledge and context to predict and confirm meaning.
