In this brief focus lesson, Hollie introduces the strategy Ask questions throughout the reading process. She uses the Ready Reference Guide as a reminder of which components to teach. She explains the secret to success, which is to come up with our own questions while reading.

Hollie uses the book Feathers: Not Just for Flying to model, but doesn't read the entire book. She will come back to the text in another focus lesson. She ends the lesson by asking students to use this strategy in their own reading and to keep track of their own questions.
