This video illustrates strategy-group instruction, which brings together two or three students who need instruction on the same strategy, although not necessarily on the contents of the same book. These students are each reading a different book and their books are on different levels, but they are all working on the same strategy. Hollie Gebhardt is at ease explaining the strategy to the group and then helping each student practice it. She supports the students, checks their understanding of the strategy, and then makes plans for next steps. As soon as this group was dismissed, Hollie offered Reece more individualized support with this strategy. When we practice curricular coherence, what we work on in small groups is the same as what we work on in conferences.

Hollie makes this teaching process look easy. You might want to follow the same procedure she does when teaching strategies.
