Finding the Secret to Author's Purpose

Carrie is a second year teacher in this K-2 multiage classroom. She and Joan are meeting with three students who have been working on Author's Purpose and Author's Message. This is not the first day that they have been talking about this strategy so Carrie has already dropped off her own modeling of the strategy and has moved into asking students to do it themselves. She gives each of the students a new book to practice using this strategy and finding the secret to making the strategy work.
