Heather Macey introduces the comprehension strategy Compare and contrast to this small group, using the characters from their read-aloud, The Kid in the Red Jacket, to practice. To organize and hold their thinking, the students use a Venn diagram, which becomes a visual reminder of the characteristics that are the same and different.
