Use Pictures, Illustrations and Diagrams —"I Can" Bookmark

When releasing children to practice a strategy, sometimes it is nice to give them a tool to remind them what to do. Enter the "I Can" bookmark. Simply cut the page into the three separate pieces. Then, when children are working on the expand-vocabulary strategy Use pictures, illustrations, and diagrams, give them the bookmark to remind them what is involved in making the strategy work for them. These bookmarks are also great self-evaluation tools for students to check their progress with the use of the strategy.
