When Beth Lawson meets with this small group of third graders, the focus is threefold:

  • check in on the students' character studies, 
  • review the strategy of inferring, and
  • encourage the group to discuss their characters.

Beth leaves them for a bit to focus on their work, and circles back later to debrief.
