Stretch Your Mind

One's mind once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.
—Oliver Wendell Holmes

Stretch—we hear that word every day when we exercise or read about exercising. We are always reminded to stretch as part of our work out. The same goes for our minds. We must continue to stretch, every day, in order to keep the mind capable of the heavy lifting we have to do at work and home.

When was the last time you really stretched your mind with a new idea? Was it painful to push yourself to a new limit? How many repetitions of the stretch did it take before you no longer felt the pain?

Stretching is good for all of our muscles, especially our minds. If we don't stretch, our muscles become flaccid and lose their tone and strength.

Stretch yourself every day. Enjoy the feeling of pushing your mind to new limits. Once that new limit is met then stretch some more. It's an amazing accomplishment to stretch and re-stretch on a daily basis.

Do your exercises and don't forget to stretch your mind.
