Remembering Home

The most important work you will ever do will be within the walls of your own home. —Harold B. Lee

The work each of you do is critical to the futures of the children you serve as well as to the future of our country. But do you sometimes get so focused on your work that you neglect your home? I encourage you not to forget how your home life connects to your success at work.

For many of us, the following thoughts about home ring true:

  • It is a place where we can nurture our own spirits.
  • It is a safe haven from the outside world.
  • It is where we are loved unconditionally and can love ourselves.
  • It is where we have freedom of speech, thought and worship.
  • And it is where we have the privilege to love our own partners and children.

To be truly successful at work, we must understand that a sense of balance and success at home are foundational.
