Reading response journals have many variations. This series features a teacher named Pam, her intermediate-grade class, and different types of reading response journals they have used.

In Pam’s approach, students write weekly reading responses in the form of a letter. Students turn in their responses on a rotating basis, which makes Pam’s paper load more manageable. The following videos are five or more minutes each, but they contain good information and a lot of valuable modeling, along with a useful rubric.
