Teaching children to recognize words quickly and effortlessly is not an easy job, but it is essential to developing fluent readers and writers. As teachers we are continually learning new ideas to assist in teaching sight words. Our students are exposed to them through word activities, class focus lessons, small group lessons, and through individual instruction. We are fortunate to have many resources to pull from to help us meet the needs of each learner. Parents, on the other hand, are often in the dark about what they can do to help their child at home. Many are willing to help but need our assistance in getting started. This Parent Pipeline provides ideas for parents to use when working with their child on sight words.
