A number generator is useful to help students work with numbers and develop basic fact power. We have used many different tools for this purpose; cards, spinners, and dice. In this video Hector and Maria use dominoes, matching like dominoes and then adding, using the language, "6 and 4 is 10". Asking students to say the number sentence and the answer keeps both students involved. While one is stating their thinking the other is checking for accuracy.

This activity could easily be adapted for advanced learners who need to practice subtraction and multiplication. We love tools that can be used for multiple purposes.
