This fast-paced lesson is interactive, using children's visual, auditory, and kinesthetic processing systems to practice looking for word parts. This is a lesson Kelly relies on when teaching and assessing children's use of chunking words or looking for word parts.  Students learn this procedure in Kelly's class and often try it first when accuracy breaks down during reading.

Notice that Kelly's beginning-blend cards are student made. She believes those who do the most work learn the most.
