Lift Yourself Up

Share

Carol Moehrle

There are times when we need a boost or a lift in our life. Sometimes that can be a helping hand from a friend or loved one, but most of the time we need to do the lifting ourselves.

Our positive, personal thoughts are often what lift us emotionally. We need to be cautious, because thoughts can drag us down as well.

When was the last time you gave yourself a pep talk? You know, the self-talk to encourage yourself to keep going—the "I can do it" pep talk.

Does your self-talk sometimes drag you down because it's filled with negative words? Do you find it hard to speak in a positive reaffirming way to yourself? If so, then you need to practice positive self-talk.

Repeat after me:

Today is going to be a great day.

I am happy and it shows in my actions and words.

I can handle any challenge the day may bring.

I will bring joy and happiness to this great day.

Just like learning any new language, practice is a critical component if you are going to master the new language of positive self-talk.

Practice each day with positive affirmations, and give yourself the positive lift you may need.
