Inspiring Others

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.
—John Quincy Adams

Some people are masters at combining words to spin a story or tale. Their inspiring words pull us in and we quickly dream and learn along with them.

But more than words, our actions have the potential to inspire. Even when we are unaware of it, we are serving as role models for those around us.

When was the last time you found yourself watching people? Perhaps it was while they were interacting with children or an aging parent. After an initial glance, you can't take your eyes off them, and you wonder what they are saying and try to interpret their expressions and actions.

Without saying words, these people may have inspired you. You want to emulate their calm behavior, or you admire their way of dealing with a stressful situation. Their actions have inspired you in some way.

Just as you watch others, others are watching you. It would serve us well to take special notice of our actions as well as our words. We may be inspiring someone from a distance.
