Before

After - What do you see?

We took these before and after shots when doing a middle school library makeover. There are just a few subtle differences between the first and second photos, but if you like to play I Spy, you'll probably spot them fairly quickly.

First, we swapped out the purchased posters for framed student art. Not only did it contribute to a warm and cozy feel, it honored the budding artists represented.

Second, a couple plants (one on the top of a bookshelf and one on the floor) softened the look. The greenery provided a lovely backdrop for the standing books.

Third, we added an inviting, covers out display that is just begging students to come over and browse.

These three subtle and inexpensive changes provided a big payoff in terms of the feel of the room.
