Happy Rock Hunting

Carol Moehrle

I love rocks—bright shiny crystals and quartz as well as the common or uncommon stones I find outside on a trail or street. Finding and holding a rock is very calming to me.

Like many children who collect rocks and carry them in their pockets, I love rocks for many reasons. A rock doesn’t talk back but listens to my issues and concerns. Each rock carries its own texture, appearance, and energy. Their silence can be calming or energizing. Each stone holds a special magic that is in the eye of the beholder.

When did you last pick up a rock? Did you notice the colors or the shape first? Did you feel its texture and weight? Just this simple activity of using your senses can bring you a moment of calm.

The silent energy of stones can change the way you feel about your day and your surroundings.

Perhaps children like to carry rocks in their pockets for a reason. Perhaps they too feel the calm energy from these stones. Perhaps it’s time we go back to our childhood and start collecting rocks again.

Look down and find your calm in a new rock.

Happy rock hunting.
