Goal Setting Meets Art

Are you preparing for parent/teacher conferences? If so, you might like this idea that combines art and goal setting. Michelle Kam has her fourth-grade students record goals and a partial self-portrait in preparation for conference week. The informative artwork adorns the hall so parents can see what students are working on before they enter the room.

For example, Cameron's goals are as follows:
Math—Consistently solve and explain multistep word problems.
Reading—Increase my comprehension by checking for understanding.
Writing—Use appropriate conventions in all of my writing.

Michelle put a piece of lined notebook paper on a piece of paper and copied it on white construction paper for the project.
