Give Yourself a Gift

When was the last time you gave yourself a gift? Most of us are comfortable giving kindness and love to others, but what about giving those same gifts to yourself?

We celebrate our family and friends with gifts and gestures of kindness, but what do you give to yourself?

How about the gift of time? Time to linger over a warm cup of coffee or tea. Time to take a walk after work, before you go home to the evening’s hectic schedule. Time to curl up on the couch or in your favorite chair and enjoy a good book.

Some of us need permission to indulge ourselves. We would much rather give than receive, but giving goes both ways. When we give, we gain heartfelt happiness that fills us with love. Consider that it is also a gift when you allow someone else to give to you.

During the past few months you have been focusing on your families and friends, keeping their spirits up and showing extra kindness and support. When was the last time you did the same for yourself? To continue supporting others, you need to give to yourself. You need to nurture yourself so you are strong and resilient for others.

As you give to others, don’t forget to include yourself in the gift giving. Love and care for yourself so you can love and care for others.
