Hurry, rush, do this, pick up that.
Make a list—add to it while mentally doing other projects.
Divert your focus to multiple projects and tasks, and what do you have? Frustration, lack of completion, wasted time jumping from one task to another and then circling back to try to remember if you completed it.

We are so accustomed to multitasking that we forget the calm that comes with concentrating and completing one project well.

Teachers multitask every day. You can read to a group of students while listening to another group in team learning. You may be focused on the math lesson, but your thoughts are also on the student who is having difficulty at home. Multitasking is a part of most of our lives.

But what happened to the days when we weren’t so focused on doing four things at the same time? Was life calmer then? Were we less stressed then?

During stressful times, it is helpful to slow down and focus on one activity at a time.

Take an hour, or an entire day, and allow yourself to focus on one task. Focus your attention on single projects, and feel the stress lifted and the calm return.
