Questioning during reading helps the reader clarify and review what has happened so far and confirm or create new predictions.  It allows a reader the opportunity assess the story critically and make personal connections. Although the strategy of asking questions throughout the reading process is difficult to teach, it is essential for comprehending the text.  The most effective way to teach this strategy is through modeling the questioning process while reading aloud to your students.
