Finding Happiness in Balance

Carol Moehrle

Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance and order and rhythm and harmony.
—Thomas Merton

How often do you look for happiness in your life?  Daily, weekly, monthly, or perhaps hourly?

During stressful times or times of change, we often forget to pause to consider if we are truly happy or just going through the motions. As this Thomas Merton quote reminds us, happiness is often about balance, order, rhythm, and harmony.

When our lives, our homes, our work, and our play are balanced, we are more naturally happy.

When there is a rhythm to our day or week, we find happiness.

When we have harmony of thoughts, actions, and words, we are happy.

Sometimes happiness is an intense feeling brought on by a single event, but more often than not, it comes from the balance, order, rhythm, and harmony that surround us each day.

Find your happiness.
