Be thankful

Some of our expectations in life are very detailed and some are very simple. When we raise our children, we teach by our examples and by our words what we expect of them. It's not enough to tell our children to be kind; we must show them what kindness is.

We must also show our children and all of those around us what it means to be thoughtful and genuine. Being thoughtful means showing consideration for the needs of others. How do you demonstrate thoughtfulness to those around you?

Being genuine means we are authentic and sincere in our acts and our words. Do we practice being genuine with those around us? Do our actions and words reflect our sincere nature?

One of the most important values we can model for our children is a spirit of thankfulness. We show our thankfulness by expressing our gratitude. This can be as simple as a heartfelt hug, or saying, "Thank you." To those with whom we work each day, this thank-you can be for the work and support they give us.

We need to be thankful, not just during the holidays, but every day of the year. Today and every day I am thankful for each of you and for the time, energy, passion, and love you willingly give to the children you teach. What a great example you are for them.

I am so thankful you are in my life and the lives of our children.
