Did you begin the year with mandated training/meetings? Many of you have written that you were thrilled to be back at school, yet found the workshop days prior to school to be a bit disappointing. So, what do we do when our professional development needs aren't being met by our district offerings? We passionately believe that if we aren't getting what we need from our schools and districts, we must seek it elsewhere. We owe it to ourselves as professionals and certainly to the children we serve to be developing and honing our craft.

It is usually this time of year when we begin to prepare for our upcoming group of students. In doing this, we pull out our Pensieve to get it ready for the next group of children. Some of us may decide to replace the forms and use the same notebook, while others may be looking for a new notebook to start the new year. I usually try to have my notebook prepared before school starts so I am ready to start recording all of the wonderful information I will gather on my students.
