We are always looking for tools to help in manipulating words and letters during Word Work. We want tools that are inexpensive, long lasting, easy to use, and simple to clean up. One of our suggestions has always been stamps. However, the idea of an ink pad makes many people cringe because of the mess that often follows. We recently saw an alternative to ink that we just had to share: stamps and kinetic sand!

Materials needed: plastic pencil case, kinetic sand, alphabet stamps or golf pencils

Use: Fill the bottom of the pencil case with kinetic sand. When choosing to use this tool for Word Work, students can grab a pencil case and a set of stamps or a golf pencil, and write their words in the sand. Simple, fun, and no mess!
