Gail is introducing Cross-Checking to Beth's students. It is an important accuracy strategy and one we use into adulthood. The hand motions not only provide opportunities for the kinesthetic learners to move, but help cement the learning for everyone in the room. It isn't unusual for us to see students crossing their arms as they rehearse the strategy in their independent reading.
