At the beginning of each school year we teach, model, and have students practice 3 Ways to Read a Book. This foundation lesson highlights the importance of not only the words in a book, but the pictures and the extra meaning a repeated reading brings.

We use an anchor chart to write out each way and then we model for students. After modeling, we give them a chance to practice with their own books. What does this pratice look like? Enjoy a brief glimpse on the first day of school, in a first grade classroom, as Ms. Mueller's students practice 3 Ways to Read a Book.
