Joan meets with a small group of kindergarten students who are working on accuracy, specifically the letter/sound connection. Children love working with whiteboards. The dry erase markers, which are big and chunky yet write smoothly, are a perfect match for their developing fine-motor skills. Turning the lesson into a game ensures engagement. Joan takes advantage of the opportunity to reinforce correct letter formation as they play.

The hand motions are part of a phonics program called Zoophonics. Joan doesn't use the entire resource, but does use the sound/symbol cards.
