One of my most enjoyable roles was serving as a literacy coach. I was fortunate to be in a building with teachers who were reflective, professional, and hardworking. One of my favorite things to do was visit classrooms and confer with students when they were reading and writing. If the classroom teacher used the ConferringNotebook, I could look at the Keeping Track sheet and see who needed to be met with, review what the teacher had been doing with the student, and support and layer on instruction.

If the teacher wasn’t using the online ConferringNotebook, I would take notes on the group conferring sheet and drop it on their desk before I left.

Some teachers transfer the data into their own conferring notebooks and some just use the information to start a dialogue about their work with students.

If you are a principal, literacy coach, or support person who floats in and out of rooms throughout the day, you might find this useful. It would be valuable for guest teachers, as well.
