Yes and no. In some classes, all of the strategies will be introduced by the end of the year, and in others, they won't. This depends entirely on the grade you are teaching and—as always—the students in front of you. We look at our readers with an eye toward what they need and then consider our curriculum and standards to see which strategies we are responsible for teaching. It is not a race to get as many strategies as we can on the board, but instead a yearlong training during which we give our students what they need, when they need it. We are truly teaching the children in front of us, and this means our menu won't look the same each year. The order in which we teach the strategies will change and the number of strategies we introduce will change, and as a result, the menu on our classroom wall will not look the same as our colleague's next door or even the pictures of the menus on this website or in the CAFE book.
