In the first video, Beth and Joan talk about the need for keeping conferences short, but meaningful, and what the focus typically is this early in the school year. Beth mentions the five finger rule. After the I-PICK lesson, each of the letters in the acronym are assigned a finger to help students know review and determine whether or not their selection is truly a good fit.

 

 

In this second video, Joan and Beth work with a small group (only two students), teaching the strategy of cross-checking.
