When we ask our students to predict what will happen in the story, we are giving them a purpose to read a selection and motivating them to turn the page and dive in. Once predictions are made, it is equally important that we teach our students to confirm their predictions to increase their understanding of the selection.

It is fun to watch children as their predictions come true. They get so excited and their motivation to read increases. The Parent Pipeline for this strategy provides parents with guiding questions to help their children predict and confirm text at home.
