Starting on the first day of school, with the very first read aloud, each and every book was recorded to document reading history. As the chart grew, more paper was taped on the end, extending it until the last day of school when it was ceremoniously unrolled. Students reflected on each and every book they'd experienced together. Then they were allowed to choose a piece of the chart, cut out that section and take it home. Martha and Carrie were proud to have documented their reading history and loved the conversations that happened throughout the year as students remembered and referred back to stories read and the strategies taught through them.
