Students need to understand why we are asking them to have a sense of urgency for Daily 5 tasks. Here is the language we use when launching the tasks to help them know why they will participate in these tasks every day and why they are so important.
We write a shorter version of these on each of the five I-Charts. For example on the I-chart for Read to Self, we write
- To become a better reader.
- It is fun!
