Tammy and Clare are staff developers who believe that effective professional development is customized and includes side-by-side teaching, discussions of current research, analysis of student work, and mutual trust and respect. They are authors of the book Assessment in Perspective: Focusing on the Reader Behind the Numbers and we are delighted that they are joining us here at the Daily CAFE to share their reflections.

There's no such thing as the perfect lesson, the perfect day in school or the perfect teacher. For teachers and students alike, the goal is not perfection but persistence in the pursuit of understanding important things.
—Tomlinson and McTighe

We love this quote! It sums up our lives. We live in cognitive dissonance. We learn through professional development, books, articles, observations, moments in classrooms, conversations with teachers and students, quotes we read, charts we see, and research we hear. All of these experiences push us to grow as we struggle to understand. We hope to share some of the ideas and questions we are in pursuit of understanding. We welcome you to join us on our journey.
