After introducing a new strategy to the whole class, we ask one student to write the strategy on a card and post it on the CAFE board. This anchors learning to the wall, providing easy reference for review and student access. One way to make this learning hands on for all students is to have them write the strategy on their own menu at the same time. This menu is then kept in a book box or binder and can be accessed as needed. It contains only the strategies that have been introduced during the year.
Notice the first letter of each of the CAFE™ goals is posted but the rest of the word is blank. This is to provide space for each child to fill in each goal on their own, once again providing a hands on learning opportunity.
