The Gift of Work

Carol Moehrle

Work—the word that sometimes draws a sigh or causes us to mutter “Ugh” under our breath, the job or career where we spend most of our weekday hours and that we spend most of our waking hours thinking about. Work is sometimes associated with words such as toil or labor or drudgery. What if we challenged ourselves to focus on the positive? What if we thought about our work as an honor and a privilege? What if we chose to get up each morning with anticipation and excitement for what the day might bring? Why not bring the energy and excitement to each day as if it were the first day at a new job?

If work becomes a gift that we cherish and are thankful for, then our perception of our daily job becomes a positive factor in our lives.

When we love what we do and feel we are making a difference, we find that the labor of work is truly a gift.

Celebrate the gift of work.
