Reflect Upon Your Present Blessings

Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.
—Charles Dickens

Have you ever participated in a Relay for Life or a Walk for ALS? They are some of the most meaningful events I have ever experienced. Participants pull together, often in support of a friend or loved one, to help fight and eradicate illness and disease.

They gather together to support others who have experienced pain and suffering, loss and grief. They gather to celebrate the future of life and their present blessings. I have been awed and inspired by the amount of loving, caring energy that is felt during an event like this. People are there to offer unconditional love and comfort, and to heal each other while nurturing themselves with the support of others.

Participating in these events forms an invisible bond between all those in attendance. The common link they have is an expression of love and faith that the future can and will be different. If you ever want to be motivated and reassured about your present blessings, just participate in one of these community events. I guarantee you will come away with a calming reassurance that reflecting on your present blessings lends a healing process to past misfortunes.
