Over the years, phonics has been referred to as decoding, lifting the words off the page, word recognition, accuracy, etc. Regardless of the label, the ability to decode is a critical component in becoming a fluent reader. We happen to like the word accuracy, because it works so beautifully in our CAFE , acronym.
