FAQ - Goals for Our Highest Readers

Q: What do you do with advanced readers who are strong in comprehension, accuracy, and fluency? Do you keep working on Expand Vocabulary for a long time?

A: As our students progress into more proficient readers, their instructional needs change. Once children have command over reading words accurately and their fluency is consistent, then the focus for instruction stays with both comprehension and expand vocabulary. Even if a student has strong comprehension at their current reading level, it is a life-long skill that we continue to hone into adulthood. Likewise, expanding our vocabularies is a skill we want to continue to work with students on as it supports comprehension as well.
